Ex-England footballer and our Eat Like A Pro ambassador Jermaine Jenas surprised children at Hollymount Primary School in Wimbledon, as part of a competition we launched in schools newspaper, First News. The Match of the Day pundit put his trainers on to join in with the children’s fitness session.
In-line with our Beko mission to inspire families to eat a little bit more healthily and cook together, the schools winning entry detailed how pupils are encouraged to do a ‘mile a day challenge’ together three days a week, all before nine o’clock!
Jermaine Jenas said: “It was brilliant to meet the children and they certainly kept me on my toes. As a dad, I know how challenging it can be to get kids to eat fruit and vegetables so it was good to share a few of my own tricks like hiding greens in sauces or chopped finely on pizza toppings! Hopefully through initiatives such as Beko’s Eat Like A Pro they’ll be inspired to make healthier choices and get more active.”
Headteacher at Hollymount Primary School, Sam Birnage added: “It’s not every day a football legend turns up to a school and Jermaine and Beko certainly gave our children a day to remember. They delivered a really important message, whilst also making special memories for the children.”
